About Us
The BRAIN Big and Little Buddy program (Building Respect for Autism Inclusiveness Now) is dedicated to fostering acceptance, inclusivity, and belonging for children on the autism spectrum. Through engaging after-school courses, we empower 5th-grade students to develop a deeper understanding of neurodiversity by exploring concepts of diversity, acceptance, and respect. Our program integrates play-based learning, guided by occupational therapists and preschool educators, to create meaningful peer interactions that build empathy, social connections, and lifelong advocacy for inclusivity

School Partnership Criteria for the BRAIN Program
The BRAIN program fosters meaningful connections between Big and Little Buddies, ensuring a positive and enriching experience for all participants. Our occupational therapists collaborate closely with schools to create a supportive environment for children with autism.
To be considered for participation in the BRAIN program, schools must meet the following criteria:
1. Collaborative Partnership: Preschool or elementary special education teachers must work closely with the OT instructor to effectively pair children with autism (Little Buddies with their Big Buddies
2. Classroom Commitment: Schools must provide classroom space for six weeks of structured lessons, each lasting one hour
3. School Event Participation: Schools must offer an opportunity for a culminating event where Big and Little Buddies can engage together.
4. Photo Documentation: Preschool teachers are responsible for obtaining photo release forms and capturing moments throughout the program for inclusion in the year-end video.
By meeting these requirements, schools contribute to a meaningful mentorship experience that supports social growth, inclusion, and peer connections.
