Meet Our Board
Thai Vu
Co-President
Thai Vu attends Los Alamitos High School (class of 2028) and is dedicated to promoting equality for all. Here, he is involved in MUN, Debate, Asian Culture Club, and Cross Country. Outside of school, he is a debate coach. In his free time he loves running and watching movies like Wall-E, Interstellar, and La La Land.
Nam Vu
Co-President
Nam Vu currently attends Oxford Academy and Class of 2030. Nam was one of the original Big Buddy and provides a unique prospective in the vision of the program. He is the 8th grade ASB Vice-President and Youth Center Leadership Council. In his free time, he enjoys playing soccer and checking out exquisite super cars and race cars.
Vicky Vu
Treasurer
Dr. Vu has been a pediatric Occupational Therapist for 29 years working with children in an outpatient setting, consulting in schools, and with medical fragile babies in the NICU. She has developed programs at CHOC for the Brachial Plexus clinic as well as the Palliative program in the NICU. She is a national speaker for the BRAIN program. Her work was recently published in a peer-reviewed journal.
Mio Emi
Secretary
Mio is a class of 2028 student at Los Alamitos High School, where she runs cross country, plays basketball, and competes in Science Olympiad. She is passionate about promoting inclusivity, especially in learning environments. Outside of school, she enjoys traveling, playing with her dog, and reading mystery novels.
Jonathan Qiu
Website Director
Jonathan attends Los Alamitos High School as a current sophomore (class of 2028). In school, he is Vice Captain of the FRC robotics team 6220, and a board member in several clubs including Asian Culture Club, Emerging Leaders, Stem Expo, and Debate. Beyond school, he is deeply passionate about Medicine and Neurology and enjoys running, sketching, and spending time with his friends.
Amy Tang
VP of Communication
In her free time, Amy enjoys jogging with her cross-country team, spending quiet moments in nature, and exploring her local community. Currently a student at Los Alamitos High School- Class of 2028- she is always ready to take on a challenge or lend a hand when needed. Whether organizing, learning, or leading, she brings energy and heart to everything she does.
Kent Inanaga
VP of Ways and Means
Kent Inanaga is currently a sophomore at Los Alamitos High School- Class of 2028. Who speaks fluent Japanese and English with an interest to learn more languages in the future. At Los Al, he is an active board member within the Model United Nations and Asian Culture Clubs. In his free time, he likes to complete 100% of video games, run for the Los Al’s Varsity Cross Country and Track Team, and watch different movies with friends with some of his favorites being Project Hail Mary, Hoppers, and La La Land.
Drew Hatakeyama
VP of Community Outreach
Drew is a 7th grader at Oak Middle School who enjoys serving the community. He is involved in Boy Scouts, Science Olympiad, and has fun debating at the Socratic Academy. He has a passion for music and is part of show choir. In his free time, he enjoys playing video games and biking.
Melissa Vittetow
Teacher Advisor
Melinda Vittetow is a dedicated Education Specialist with a Master’s degree in Education, emphasizing Special Education. With over 24 years of experience, she has devoted her career to early childhood education, working with students from preschool through kindergarten. She has worked across non-categorical, collaborative, and autism-specific models, consistently advocating for students with exceptional needs. Melinda is passionate about fostering inclusive communities where all students are valued, supported, and celebrated for their unique strengths and abilities. Her approach emphasizes collaboration, compassion, and a steadfast belief that all children regardless of ability deserve to thrive in a learning environment that honors their individual strengths and needs.
